论《欧美名家短篇小说丛刊》中的创造性叛逆

CREATIVE TREASON IN ANTHOLOGY OF FAMOUS EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN SHORT STORIES

摘要: 对照《欧美名家短篇小说丛刊》英文原文,会发现周瘦鹃的译本中存在着大量与原文不尽相吻合的变动:因文化差异、美饰原文等原因产生的误译;因删繁就简和译者的疏忽造成的漏译;因加入注释、评论、创作而出现的增译;颇具个人风格的个性化改译等。这些都可以理解为“创造性叛逆”,正是通过这种“叛逆”,周瘦鹃完成了对原作的“本土化”改造,使之既基本合乎中国传统伦理价值观念,又遵从于读者的阅读习惯和审美趣味。译文中文化的中西合璧、古今通融,保证了它在近现代中国的普遍接受性,为中国文学开辟了新境界,这是其取得成功的最大秘密。

Abstract: A comparison of the original novels in Anthology of Famous European and American Short Stories and Zhou Shoujuan′s translation version reveals that in the latter a lot of adaptation,deletion and addition can be found.All these methods can be regarded as “creative treason”.In fact,it is his creative use of such methods that has localized the original novels and made them more adaptable to the traditional Chinese ethics,values,aesthetic sentiments and reading habits.Therefore,the combination of Chinese and the Western culture of ancient and contemporary ages in Zhou′s translation has opened up a new horizon for Chinese literature,and has guaranteed its general acceptance in modern China.
