Abstract:
In recent years,as an effective method of assessment,formative evaluation has been applied in teaching by many universities. Formative evaluation gives prominence to the subject status of students with the purpose of advancing students’ understanding and realizing students’ promotion,and thereby improves the teaching level. Starting from the concept of formative evaluation,we compare the differences between formative evaluation and summative assessment and prove its value in teaching. Taking the Course Book of Strategy Based Instructions for Language Learners for example,this paper,based on the theoretical foundation of formative evaluation,drafts the design principles and schemes,discusses and analyzes the implementation of formative evaluation in teaching practice,and points out some issues in its application,which has a certain reference value for the foreign language learning in higher education institutions.
