EVALUATION OF SOURCE ROCKS IN MANGHAN DEPRESSION OF KAILU BASIN AND ITS EXPLORATION POTENTIAL

Abstract

Abstract: In order to determine the exploration prospect of Manghan Depression in Kailu Basin，the geochemical behavior of its source rock is quantitatively examined by sample analysis data from Well Zhecan 2 and as a result the petroleum generation potency of the source rock is comprehensively evaluated，and finally the spatial distribution of source rock is predicted with seismic inversion.According to the research result，the source rock of Manghan Depression is pelagic and mudstone with high organic matter abundance，whose kerogen is sorted as Ⅱtype and has become mature into petroleum generation threshold，so the source rock of Manghan Depression has a high potential of hydrocarbon generation.Seismic inversion shows that the source rock widely spreads in Manghan Depression with a thickness of 300 meter in center.So the study area has a good exploration prospect and the effective trap adjacent hydrocarbon generation zone center is the optimum exploration target area.
