Abstract: It has been extensively concerned by petroleum workers that the precipitation of asphaltene (solids) and in turn the solids lead to the severe problems in petroleum production, such as equipment plugging and formation damage. This paper gives some views on the mechanism of aspholene precipitation, summaries the analytical methods and the experimental technology
at present. What is specially presented in this paper is novel art acoustic resonance technology, the art can measure quickly and precisely the onset of asphaltene in light or heavy oil by comparison, which not only simplifies the analysis’s processes,but also improves it’s reliability, and has practical significance for understanding the asphaltene deposition problems during gas
flooding and other petroleum production. This paper briefly recounts the prevention and removal approaches of asphaltene precipitin too; it has the reference value for averting asphaltene precipitation and remedial treatments of the deposits.
