Abstract: In recent years,oil field automation has come into wider use in China. The well supervisory control is a very important part in oil field automatic system. According to the development plan of the oil field, the production method is different at different stage. Therefore, the requirements of the well supervisory control are different too. The proper design and use of the well supervisory control system are beneficial to the automatic production and automatic management of the oil field. This paper introduces the structure, development and characteristic of the well supervisory control system. It also introduces several well supervisory control systems, the remote shutdown and safety system of the well. In addition, it discusses the problems relevant to the application of the well supervisory control system.
