A New Understanding of Confucianism from the Perspective of Folk Funerals#br#

Abstract: With a retrospect to the controversies between Confucianism as a religion and Confucianism as a school of thought, the
article analyzes the connotations and concepts of Confucianism. Focusing on the practice of Chinese folk funerals and folk religious
beliefs, the study points out that we should have a new perception of the religiousness of Confucianism. Furthermore, we ought to
recognize national religious patterns and the change of religions in modern China.
