Moral Virtue and Practical Wisdom: From Unity to Separation and Then to Dialectical Integration

Abstract

Abstract:

The relationship between moral virtue and practical wisdom is a central issue in virtue ethics research. From the

perspective of the history of Western ethics, this relationship can be understood as having undergone a developmental process from

unity to separation and then to dialectical integration. A clarification and discussion of this process will hold positive significance for

the proper understanding of moral virtue and practical wisdom in themselves and their interrelations.
