Abstract:  Chinese modernization takes the integrated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization, often referred to
as the "two civilizations, " as its fundamental pathway. This approach directly addresses the civilizational dilemmas embedded in
Western-style modernization. It consistently prioritizes human value and human subjectivity, upholds a people-centered development
philosophy, clarifies the instrumental nature of capital, and restores its essential orientation toward serving human development. In doing so, Chinese modernization effectively transcends the inherent contradictions of modernity and offers a meaningful Chinese solution to global modernization challenges. The "genetic code" for the coordinated development of the two civilizations is profoundly embedded in the ideological wisdom represented by the“ Two Combinations".

Key words: material civilization, spiritual civilization, the coordinated development, Chinese modernization, "Two Combinations"
