Abstract:

The new-democratic revolution in China began with the May 4th Movement of 1919. With the occurring of the October Revolution and the propaganda of Marxism, democracy and science were spread into China, which led to a wide transformation in culture and education circles. Some intellectuals, who were so patriotic and had been influenced by such democratic awareness, made saving the nation as their mission. They set up education groups and disseminated their propositions one by one. Because of this, the
first new tide of non-governmental education groups in history was coming.

Key words: the May 4th Movement, education groups, young students
