Abstract:

Zhang Ruogu was a representative writer of "Urban Prose" in Shanghai during the period of the Republic of China. Zhang's prose style includes his thoughts from readings，the report of "12.8 Shanghai Event" and some short lyric pieces. Born and growing up in Shanghai，Zhang wrote works which are full of local civic culture，among which his prose，to a certain extent，became the paradigmm of the contemporary Chinese "Urban Prose" style although a great charisma can not very often embodied in the literary world of his works.
