Abstract: Based on the generalized Mises yield criterion, a new combined type of fracture criterion is established which is called the generalized plastic-region size factor fracture criterion. By altering the value of parameter a, we may obtain fracture criteria which are more coincident with the engineering practice. The criterion can be also used to solve three-dimensional crack problems.
