Abstract: Carbonic acid derivatives (such as ureas, carbamates and carbonates)have been conveniently synthesized by selenium catalyzed carbonlylation of nitrocompounds, amines, alcohols and phenols under mild conditions. The yields was satisfied and products was easy to be separated. The possible mechanisms were suggested. It was experimentally illustrated that it is help-
ful to the carbonylation reaction in the presence of a little water and the activator such as amines.
