GENERAL SOLUTION OF CONTINUOUS BEAMS UNDER THE ACTION OF DIRECT COMPRESSION AND LATERAL LOAD

Abstract: Based on the differential equation in bending, this paper discasses the continuous beams under the action of direct compression and lateral load, and presents the general solution of such a problem by using the method of Laplace transformation. This paper also deals with the lateral buckling of the beams compressed within the elastic limit, and presents the solution of the continuous beams within lateral load as a special example in passing. In order to prove the formulae obtained and assure the exactness of this method,some examples are given at the end of this paper.
