Abstract:

Objective: To explore the chemical constituents of the root of Foeniculum vulgare. Methods: Compounds were separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidences. Results: Five compounds were obtained from ethyl acetate fraction of the extract root of F. vulgare and were identified as dillapiol （1）, butyl isobutyl phthalate （2）, β-sitosterol （3）, linoleic acid （4）, and trilinolein （5）. Conclusion: This research provides basic understanding about the medicinal values of F. vulgare root.
