Abstract: From the perspective of materiality and space-time of images， the image art of Dali Bai people's folk house painting is of extreme locality. As a local public knowledge system， it has been embedded in many fields of Bai social life. In the aspect of materiality， it is embodied into different types of image text content and expression form. In terms of space， its locality is related to the specific geographical environment， cultural environment and Bai folk houses. In terms of timeliness， it shows the overall appearance expanding in the meaning and function of local social life in the historical evolution. The interpretation of the generative logic and connotative meaning of national folk art in the locality is of great value to give play to the role of national folk art in strengthening the cultural identity of the Chinese nation
