对齐灵渥斯的角色定位

齐灵渥斯在《红字》中一直被视为恶魔，整个角色旨在开展疯狂的个人报复，而这种强烈、极端的恨也最终毁灭了自己。以读者的角度细读这个故事分析得出，齐灵渥斯这种毁灭性的报复不合理也不合逻辑，而是作者有意设置。在此分析上对齐灵渥斯的角色在小说中的效用进行全面探讨，试图还角色一个客观、公正的定位。

Role Orientation of Chillingworth

Chillingworth has been viewed as a devil in The Scarlet Letter, whose role helps to carry out the crazy personal revenge and finally lead to self-destruction. The essay, from the view of reader, argues that the destructive revenge of Chillingworth is unreasonable and illogical, which is designed intentionally from the author's part. Based on this analysis, the essay will explore allsided efforts of Chillingworth in the novel and try to present an objective and just role of the character.
