Abstract: Language is both instrumental and humanistic. The promotion of Putonghua（Mandarin）is a means of enhancing the instrumental function of the language;and the protection of minority language resources is a way to protect minority cultures. They are the two "integrated sides" of language usage and are interacting with each other within the system. At the same time, the language environment is constantly changing. It is necessary to balance the relationship between Putonghua and minority languages, give fullplay to the role of each of the two languages as much as possible, and create an ecological environment in which Putonghua and minority languages interact. The investigation and analysis of the language use of Lisu people in Huaping County of Lijiang City in Yunnan Province helps to promote the study of the interaction between Putonghua and minority languages.
