Abstract:

"Grass Dragon" and "Grass Phoenix" are a pair of special pattern in the woodcarving decorative patterns on Dali Bai
minority's traditional buildings and furniture. They are typical Chinese patterns with high research value in decorative arts. They originated from Dali Jianchuan carpenters' aesthetic creation, and they are also results of "Dragon variable" and "Phoenix variable" in Dali Bai minority, which derived from the Central Plain areas "Dragon and Phoenix" cultural belief.
