Abstract: Ci-poetry in Ming Dynasty has acquired a lot of criticism because its style is somehow like San-qu which is flowery and erotic. On the whole, secularization was the primary cause of the phenomenon in the development of Ci-poetry in Ming Dynasty. Firstly, secularization was caused by the pathway of spreading and acceptance. Secondly, secularization was the result of function change of Ci-poetry. Finally, secularization is not an isolated phenomenon but was influenced by the social and cultural change of the Ming Dynasty. By exploring the causes of secularization, we can get a whole picture of its inevitability and rationality.
