English Static and Chinese Dynamic: From Mutual Exclusion to Co-existence

Abstract:

The lack of deep understanding of English tends to result in the "low proficiency despite great efforts" in English learning.
Microscopic studies show that English learners with Chinese as the native language are in a state of English-Chinese mutual exclusion in their early learning and due to the absolute advantage of the mother tongue, Chinese negative transfer is widespread, which causes poor efficiency. The author takes the lead in summarizing the "negative transfer types" caused by the competition and mutual exclusion between English static and Chinese dynamic, including the language defects involved in previous research and the unidiomatic expressions usually ignored in previous studies. It is proposed that English acquisition be carried out efficiently through efforts in transforming mutual exclusion into co-existence. Attaching importance conceptually and implementing it truly are the effective way.
