Abstract:
Thinking with the help of native language is one of very important learning strategies for second language learners. Chinese coordinating conjunction he is one of the difficulties in Chinese language teaching. This paper investigates the errors of using he made by English speakers, then analyzes the resemblances and differences between Chinese and English, and also discusses the distinct semantic and syntax features of he and the negative transfer of English to the learners. With the errors, this paper concludes with suggestions of how to teach the coordinating conjunction he in Chinese to English speakers.
