Abstract:

Objective: To analyze the Epstein-Barr Virus(EBV)infection and discuss the role of EBV in AIDS/HIV-related diffuse
large B-cell lymphoma(HIV-DLBCL). Methods: 20 cases of HIV-DLBCL were collected as experiment group. 5 cases of non-HIVDLBCL,
4 cases of HIV-reactive hyperplasia(HIV-RH)and 5 cases of non-HIV-RH were collected as control group. The expression
of EBER(EBV-encoded RNA)was detected by in-situ nucleic acid hybridization. Results: The total positive expression rate of
EBER in HIV-DLBCL and in non-HIV-DLBCL was 30%(6/20)and 40%(2/5), respectively. EBER was negative in both HIV-RH
and non-HIV-RH. Conclusion: EBV infection was involved in tumorigenesis of part of DLBCLs, but it needs to be further studied on
whether EBV functions differently in HIV-DLBCL and non-HIV-DLBCL or not.
