Abstract:

Objective:To explore the relationships between the expression of visceral adipose tissue- derived serine protease
inhibitor(vaspin)and Chemerin in serum and visceral omental adipose tissue of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus.
Methods:The levels of Vaspin and Chemerin in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA). Fasting
plasma glucose(FPG), fasting insulin(FINS), total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG)and c-reactive protein(CRP)were also
detected. The expression of Vaspin and Chemerin in visceral adipose tissue was detected by western blot. Results:Pregnant women
with GDM had higher insulin levels and insulin resistant(IR)than the healthy control group. Serum Vaspin and Chemerin levels were
found to be significantly increased in patients with GDM compared with healthy control subjects. Serum Chemerin levels were
positively associated with TC, TG and CRP, while Vaspin levels in serum were positively associated with body weight before pregnancy
and BMI at delivery, HDL, FINS and HOMA-IR. The expression levels of Chemerin in obese pregnant women obviously increased.
Conclusion: Vaspin and Chemerin are closely related to GDM risk factors, obesity and lipid metabolism disorders in pregnant women.
