Abstract:

Objective: To study the differences between cultivated and wild Gentiana Crassicaulis in the aspects of character, tissue structure and chemical composition, and to provide theoretical basis and data for the revision of Gentianae macrophyllae Radix quality standards. Methods: Regular pharmacognosy methods were employed to examine the traits of medicinal parts and characters of microscopic identification. Furthermore, a HPLC method was used for quantitative analysis of bioactive components and chemical fingerprint. Results: The results showed that the differences between the cultivated and the wild Gentiana Crassicaulis were significant, while there were no significant differences between microstructures, chemical fingerprints, ethanol extracts and the content of active ingredients. Conclusion: The cultivated Gentiana Crassicaulis have a good quality, but the characters of traits don't conform to the standard of Pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China. It's suggested that the standards should be supplemented when revised.
