Interests and Discourse Power under the Reprinting Phenomenon of The Romance of West Chamber

Abstract: Many revised editions of a play script show that it is a phenomenon of revision and publication for many book workshops
during Ming dynasty. Benefits could probably be an obvious reason behind this phenomenon. However, social structure of the whole
society has been classified and rebuilt at the period of the middle and late Ming dynasty. Especially numerous failed literati stayed
around cities and towns, failure in the Imperial Examinations made them feel very frustrated and depressive. They turned to express
their own points and opinions from the view of culture. Therefore, it pushed the popular culture to be much more vigorous during late
Ming dynasty, and meanwhile well-developed printing technology promoted this prosperous popular culture further.
