Abstract: A large sample survey of 3 386 university students from different grades, disciplines and student sources shows that about
20% of university students have poor time monitoring ability, nearly 30% of University students have a poor sense of time efficacy, and
more than half of college students are strongly dependent on smart phones. There are obvious languid characteristics in contemporary
university students, and the main reasons are as follows: study burnout promotes the mental state of sluggishness, which is reinforced by
peer behaviors and encouraged by the convenience of smart phones. The following measures are in favor of reducing the sluggishness of
college students in the age of smart phones: creating more success opportunities and reducing learning burnout for students; improving
the management system and strengthening disciplines; and adopting proper physical isolation which can reduce students' reliance on
smart phones.
