Abstract: Minzu Universities are important bases for solving the ethnic issues with respect to cultivating high-quality talents of
ethnic groups and researching national theories and policies. They are also a platform for inheriting and promoting the excellent culture
of all ethnic groups. These functions determine the importance and necessity of developing humanistic and social sciences in Minzu
Universities. By collecting the funding of two types of humanistic and social science funds in Minzu universities, the number of
sponsored projects and categories of subjects are compared with those of non-ethnic universities. The results show that there are
imbalances in sponsored projects and disciplines. Minzu universities need to attach importance to the personnel training mechanism
and make good use of the opportunity brought by the "Belt and Road" construction.
