Abstract: Objective: To analyze and summarize the diagnosis and treatment of obturator hernia in order to reduce misdiagnosis.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 18 patients with obturator hernia who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital
of Dali University from January 2013 to December 2018. Results: 9 cases were diagnosed preoperatively and 9 cases were diagnosed
intraoperatively. One patient underwent conservative treatment and 17 patients underwent surgical treatment, including 10 patients on
the left side, 6 patients on the right side, and 1 patient on both sides. One patient underwent 2 operations for adhesion intestinal
obstruction on the 8th day after surgery. One patient was discharged from hospital with sudden disturbance of consciousness and
respiratory failure. One patient relapsed 1 year after operation, and the repair of obturator hernia was performed. Conclusion: When
thin elderly patients have unexplained intestinal obstruction, we should consider whether it is obturator orbital. Pelvic CT can be used
as a routine examination before surgery, and strive to achieve early diagnosis and timely surgical treatment to avoid intestinal necrosis
and improve patients′ prognosis quality.
