Application of KAP Health Education in Nursing Care of Elderly Patients with Hypertension

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of health education based on KAP model in the nursing care of elderly patients with hypertension. Methods 83 elderly hypertensive patients admitted to the Department of Cardiovasology of Qujing Second People's Hospital from July 2018 to June 2019 were selected as the research objects and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group. The control group was given routine health education while the observation group was given health education based on KAP model. The nursing effects of the two groups were compared. Results After nursing the levels of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group and the scores of each dimension and total score of the self-management behavior scale and the scores of each dimension of the quality of life scale were higher than those in the control group with statistical significanceP<0.01. The nursing satisfaction rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group and the difference was statistically significantP<0.01. Conclusion The application of health education based on KAP model in the nursing of elderly patients with hypertension has a good effect and it is worth popularizing.
