The Cultural Confidence Implied in Meng Zhenhe's Novel Butterfly Valley Love

Abstract: Meng Zhenghe's novel Butterfly Valley Love is set against the backdrop of the Battle in Northern Burma and Western Yunnan during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and presents a typical Chinese story to readers by telling the story of an American pilot's experience in China. This Chinese story embodies the cultural confidence of the Chinese people in the 1920s, mainly manifested in three aspects: portraying characters with cultural confidence, portraying rural life with cultural confidence, and presenting cultural confidence through foreign settings. The novel constructs a meaningful space for readers to tell Chinese stories and showcase cultural confidence.
