Clinical Analysis of 17 Cases of Cerebral Ventricle Cysticercosis

Abstract:

Objective:To investigate the diagnosis and surgical treatment of cerebral ventricle cysticercosis.Methods:A retrospective analysis of 17 patients who were hospitalized in our department from September 2005 to June 2010 with cerebral ventricle cystieercosis was performed.Four cases were lateral ventricles eysticercosis and 9 cases were fourth ventricle cysticercosis,all 1 3 cases were resected by surgery.Two cases of lateral ventricles cysticercosis were treated with ventriculoscope.All 1 5 patients above were treated by dehydration
and antiparasitic measures postoperatively.Other 2 eases were third ventricles cysticercosis and they were treated with conservative antiparasitic measure.Results:All 15 patients treated with operation were successfldly performed,whose symptoms of intracranial hypertension were immediately relieved after operative procedures.There were no nervous lesion newly found for 3-24 months postoperative follow—up.The
conditions of two patients with no symptoms of intracranial hypertension were much improved with consmwative antiparasitic measures.Conclusion:MRI is valuable in diagnosis and treatment of cerebral ventricle cysticercosis.Surgical method is important for the treatment of cerebral venlricle cysticercosis.
