Research Progress on Active Fractions and Monomers from Natural Drugs in the Treatment of Liver Fibrosis

Objective: To review the recent research progress domestic and abroad of the utilization of natural drugs for the treatment of liver fibrosis. Methods:Thirty-four reported natural drugs were summarized and classified into alkaloids, total flavonoids and total phenolics, single phenolics, terpenoids and its glycosides and steroids, lignanoids, amino acids and heterocyclic, polypeptides/glycopeptides and coumarins. Results: Thirty-four reported natural drugs all have certain effect for the treatment of liver fibrosis. Conclusion: The prospect of the research and development of the new natural drugs against liver fibrosis were discussed.
