Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect and surgical method of high density porous polyethylene(Medpor) implantation in repair of orbital blowout fracture. Methods: Six cases of orbital blowout fracture with operative indications underwent repair operation by Medpor implantation, then the curative effect and postoperative complication were evaluated. Results: In the 3-24 months of follow-up, the eyesight of all cases was improved after surgical vision correction. Diplopia disappeared in 2 cases, improved in 2 cases; 4 cases of patients have reached a cure standard on enophthalmos. Eyeball movement disorder symptom in 1 case cured, improved in 3 cases; with CT examination, no shift and prolapse of Medpor were observed, and Medpor successfully covered fracture hole. Conclusion: The operation could be completed under local anaesthetic in adults, Medpor is the ideal material and Medpor implantation is an effective way to cured blowout orbital fracture.
