The Origin and Development of Mathematical Poesy in China

Abstract:

In the research on the history of Chinese mathematics, It is an interesting problem to investigate when the mathematical statements begins in the form of poesy. This paper starts with the mathematical problems in poesy which are obtained from the mathematical literature in ancient mathematics, examines the work of the ancient mathematicians in this respect, and explores the reason of the appearance of ancient arithmetic problems in poesy. It is expected to carry forward the outstanding traditional culture of China in ancient times and bring the educational function of the mathematical problems in poesy into play.
