Investigation of the Village Names in Dali City : Taking Five Villages as Examples

Abstract

Abstract:

Village is a smaller local administrative unit. The naming of the village is associated with the then political, economic and ethnic elements. Five villages located in Dali were taken as an example and conducted a profound survey of the naming. Then basing on the influence of Bai language and Han language towards naming, the naming types, the socio-historical and natural culture loaded in these village names were researched. The cultural code implied in the village names were studied after literature reading and investigation.
