Clinical Observation of 100 Cases with Calcaneal Fractures Undergoing the Open Reduction and
Internal Fixation of Locking Plate

Abstract:

Objective:To investigate the clinical effects of intra articular calcaneal fractures undergoing the open reduction and
internal fixation of locking plate. Methods:One hundred patients with one hundred and three fracture of calcaneus who were treated with open reduction and internal fixation of the locking plate from September 2008 to September 2011 were analyzed. There were 76 cases of male patients and 24 cases of female. Among them,97 cases were unilateral and 3 cases were bilateral. Sander type,28 cases were fractures of Sanders II,62 cases of Sanders III,10 cases of Sanders IV. All patients were treated with open reduction of L Type of lateral wall of calcaneus and internal fixation of the locking plate. Results:92 cases were followed up from 6 to 30 months (average,18 months),and the clinical results were evaluated by Maryland Scale. Excellent results were noted in 46,good in 40,fair in 4,the ratio of excellent and good results was 93.4%. Conclusion:Open reduction and internal fixation of the locking plate can be an effective method for treating the fracture of calcaneus currently.
