A Recognition of the Condition Gap of Compulsory Education between Urban and Rural Areas:
An Example of Yunnan

Abstract:

The condition of running compulsory education is a main factor influencing the teaching quality. Accurate understanding
the condition gap of running schools between urban and rural areas is beneficial for promoting the development of compulsory
education in balance and equally. This paper describes and evaluates several aspects of conditions of running schools between urban and rural areas in Yunnan on the perspective of classrooms and teaching facilities, executive offices and teacher's offices, students' and teachers' dormitory, the rate of reaching the standard of conditions of running schools, and the medical equipment of school and so on. Based on the description and evaluation, the paper believes the condition gap between urban and rural areas is shrinking and also comes up with several practical suggestions about it.
