Clinical Analysis of 35 Cases of Children with Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome

Abstract:

Objective: To analyze the clinical presentation and diagnostic analysis of staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome(SSSS)
in children admitted in a hospital in the past nine years. Methods: Retrospective analysis was conducted to the clinical data of SSSS
admitted from October 2004 to October 2013. Results: Among the 35 infants treated in our hospital over the past nine years, fourteen were male and twenty-one were female aged from 22 days to 14 years old. Twenty-two cases were from 0 to 6 years old(62.8%),among which one case was newborn(2.8 %), 3 cases were younger than 1 year old(8.6%), 8 cases were 1 to 3 years old children(22.8%), 10 cases were 3 to 6 years old children(28.6%), and 1 cases were 6 to 14 years old(37.2%). Conclusion: Early diagnosis of SSSS combined with timely, adequate, sensitive antibiotic therapy is the most crucial of the disease.
