摘要： 姓名不仅是一个人的符号标记，也是各国各民族文化的载体。分析了中英姓名的结构形式，追溯了中英姓氏的起源，对比了它们的不同类型和数量，并对名字的特点和数量进行了归纳。研究表明：中英姓名具有丰富的文化内涵，折射出不同民族的思维模式、家庭观念、宗教信仰和文化传统；了解中英姓名差异，有助于增强不同国家和民族之间的交流和理解，对跨文化交际也大有裨益。

Abstract: Name is more than an inclusive sign representing a certain person.It is a cultural carrier of a nation.The essay analyzes the form of Chinese and English family names,traces their respective origins and compares their various categories and numbers.It also sums up the characteristics and numbers of Chinese and English given names.Names embody rich culture,reflecting thinking model,familial concept,religion,belief and tradition of an ethnic group.To get acquainted with the differences of Chinese and English names will enhance the understanding of cultural differences between China and Englishspoken countries,and thus,contributes to intercultural communication.
