Abstract: At the celebration of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up, Comrade Xi Jinping put forward the concept of "the spirit of reform and opening up" which is a summary and a highlight of China's success in its practice reform and opening-up in the past 40 years by the CPC. "The spirit of reform and opening up" has rich connotations which can be elaborated as follows:the spirit of seeking truth from facts, the spirit of reform and innovation, the spirit of being pioneer and of responsibility, the spirit of striving for success, the spirit of being industrious and hard-working and the spirit of win-win cooperation. The progress of reform and opening-up will never stop, and the spirit of reform and opening up will never fade away in the new era. An in-depth analysis and understanding of the essence of the scientific connotations of the spirit of reform and opening up will provide a powerful ideological support for the development of the socialism with Chinese characteristics, and add to the national spiritual connotation.
