Abstract: “Petrophysics” is a key fundamental course for petroleum engineering majors, and the course teaching quality directly affect the cultivation quality of the undergraduates majoring in petroleum engineering. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of “Petrophysics” course and the problems emerged in traditional offline teaching mode, the necessity and the feasibility of “online and offline” blended teaching mode are discussed. Under the guidance of Constructivism Learning Theory and First Principles of Instruction, the blended teaching mode for “Petrophysics” course is constructed by deeply integrating information technology with course teaching. The blended teaching mode, which is characterized by “teacher-guided and students-centered”, aims to promote deep learning and to cultivate higher-order thinking skills of students. Teaching practice shows that the blended teaching mode can effectively improve the teaching results of “Petrophysics” course, and it is also beneficial to the cultivation of both engineering application abilities and creative thinking abilities of students.
