Abstract:

City fringe communities are a new type of community emerging in the process of urbanization, which are activated
by urban dynamics but remain rural to a certain extent. In the conjunction of urban and rural areas, such communities
are characteristic of residents with different backgrounds among whom there are often conflicts. Better governance of these
communities is now faced with difficulties as follows: imperfect governance mechanism, residents’inactivity to participate in
autonomy, community governance personnel’s inability, and inadequate participation of social groups in community governance.
Therefore, studies must be done to find out solutions to those problems and to explore effective measures in city fringe
community governance.

Key words: city fringe community, community governance, regional development, urban and rural integration, urbanization
of rural areas
