Abstract: Inequality between men and women existing now and gender discrimination and conflicts deriving from such inequality contradict the essence of harmonized society.After analyzing the manifestation of and the causes for the disharmonious gender relationship，the author points out that realization of a harmonious and equal gender relationship is the basis of a harmonized society and that equality between men and women can be achieved by endowing them equal rights of existence and development while at the same time accept the differences between the two sexes.Ways of realizing gender equality are also suggested in this paper: substituting traditional gender concepts for new concepts of equality，formulating and perfecting relevant laws and regulations aiming at eliminating gender discrimination and women winning respect at home and in society by improving themselves.
