A STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF TRANSLATION OF SALOME ON THE MAY FOURTH FEMALE LITERATURE

Abstract: The cultural paradigm of translation studies shifts the focus of translation studies from the comparison and transfer between different languages to the connection between language society,history and culture,and the relationship between the translated texts and the target society is placed in the foreground.The May Fourth Period has played an important role in laying a foundation for Chinese modernism and Wilde′s Salome which is introduced,translated and received by Chinese in the May Fourth Period is of great significance.The present paper discusses the relationship between the introduction and translation of Salome during the May Fourth Period and the social,historical and cultural conditions and the influence of Salome on Chinese literature,especially female literature,which revealed the translation′s role as the shaping force of the target culture.
