Abstract: In Will in the World:How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare,Greenblatt uses selffashioning theory as a clue to aggregate a variety of materials,and explore the inner world of Shakespeare. By focusing on the authority and other in the circles of writers and in the whole world,Greenblatt explains Shakespeare’s selffashioning through the interaction between the two. Starting from the poaching incident,Greenblatt explores Shakespeare’s attitude to the authority,and discusses Shakespeare’s selffashioning strategies and the variety and complexity of the them,which not only reveals the process of Shakespeare’s selffashioning,the progress of his mind,but innovates the techniques of biography writing.
