Abstract:

With the expansion of Chinese universities，campus security has become an increasingly outstanding issue. The conventional countermeasures that mainly rely on security personnel supplemented with technologies or instruments are inadequate today. This paper，taking the social surroundings of Southwest Petroleum University as an example，analyzes the security situation of the area surrounding the university. The author points out that it is necessary to carry out research about university cultural construction and education from the perspective of campus security. In order to strengthen campus security，the author presents the following suggestions: security work should be carried out in an allround way; theoretical research on the construction and education of campus safety culture should be strengthened; a good attitude toward campus security should be developed so as to form a positive internal atmosphere；university security education should be conducted by highly qualified teachers and both the content and methods of campus security education should constantly updated and improved.
