Abstract: The Silk Road is a trade route of silk, porcelain and jades, and also a vital hinge for exchanges of ideas, religions and cultures between the East and the West. The images of the Silk Roads can be widely found in contemporary English poetry. In the light of cross-culture imageology and by using the Nvivo11, we made a close content analysis of the contemporary English poems involving Silk Road images and found that contemporary English poems are abundant in images of the Silk Road which are utopianized, ideologinized and neutralized, and that utopianized Silk Road is the most common one. The Silk Road images in the English poetry offer a good reflection of the introduction of Chinese culture to the Western world and of the improvement of China's national image overseas. Under the circumstance of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Silk Road revival and the excavation of its literary landscapes can be achieved by studying its images in contemporary English poetry.

Key words: the images of the Silk Road, contemporary English poetry, the Belt and Road, cross-culture imageology, utopianized
