this paper introduces a fuzzy reasoning system used in the prediction of sidewall stability. The system consists of dynamic data base, knowledge base, fuzzy reasoning and man-computer interaction and it has been proved to be valid by the practice in some directional inclined wells in Chang Qing Oil-field
