Abstract: A new method on bentonite modification by carbon-entraining roasting has been presented. The optimum conditions for bentonite modification were determined by the experiments.The effect of improvement was evaluated by de-phenol efficiency in aqueous solution. Comparing with directing roasting method, the bentonite absorber made by carbon-entraining method has stronger adsorptive capacity, its dephenol efficiency raises about 16%. The absorber is easy to separate by sagging after treating waste water, and the recovered absorber is reusable by activation at 600℃. The modified bentonite by carbon-entraining roasting method is a good organic wastewater treatment agent that is cheaper and does not cause secondary pollution. Besides, it can be used as a catalyst carrier because the modified betonite has a stable structure and large amounts of specific surface.
