Abstract: There are many misunderstandings of lowpermeability reservoirs, one of which is the starting pressure gradient for fluids to flow through.Pores are underdeveloped in lowpermeability reservoirs,so permeability and productivity of lowpermeability reservoirs are quite low,and pressure transits at quite low speed. While a pressure gradient is established in lowpermeability reservoirs, the response of production needs a long time period. The weak flow rate from experiment in laboratory is misunderstood as zero, which results in the socalled"starting pressure gradient"phenomenon. The measured starting pressure gradients are usually too high to instruct the oil/gas production of lowpermeability reservoirs. There are not starting pressure gradients for midand highpermeability reservoirs,so not for lowpermeability reservoirs. There are not yielding shearing stresses for solids and liquids,so not for oil and gas.
